ਉਪਰੰਤ ਸ਼ਾਊਲ ਦੇ ਟਹਿਲੂਆ ਨੇ ਏਹ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਦਾਊਦ ਦੇ ਕੰਨਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਕਹਿ ਸੁਣਾਈਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਦਾਊਦ ਬੋਲਿਆ, ਭਲਾ, ਇਹ ਤੁਹਾਨੂੰ ਕੋਈ ਛੋਟੀ ਜਿਹੀ ਗੱਲ ਦਿੱਸਦੀ ਹੈ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਪਾਤਸ਼ਾਹ ਦਾ ਜਵਾਈ ਬਣਾਂ ਕਿਉਂ ਜੋ ਮੈਂ ਕੰਗਾਲ ਅਤੇ ਤੁੱਛ ਮਨੁੱਖ ਹਾਂ?

And Saul’s servants spake those words in the ears of David. And David said, Seemeth it to you [a] light [thing] to be a king’s son in law, seeing that I [am] a poor man, and lightly esteemed?
